My overall favourite is Saturn, mainly because I have a large telescope and Saturn with her rings is visually the most stunning planet in the solar system to look at.

My favourite naked eye planet is Venus because it\'s the brightest object in the sky apart from Sun and Moon!

For the naked eye Venus is just AWSOME. Most people think its a plane with its landing lights on as it is so bright and always near the horizon (when visible).

The reason it is so bright is due to the whole planet being completley surrounded by miles thick cloud. They reflect a lot of the sunlight well making observation of the actual surface impossible even with the latest professional scopes.

nice one... Venus is shockingly bright at the moment. You may have seen Jupiter as they are both in the same part of the sky. Venus being nearest the horizon.

It is Just possible at the right time of year and if you have a PERFECTLY CLEAR horizon just after sunset. But mercury is never very far from the horizon when viewable (i.e it\'s always close to the sun, so can only be viewed just after sunset or just before sunrise).
